"Move Your Ass!", "How Much Is the Fish", "Nessaja", "Maria (I Like It Loud)" and "The Question Is What Is the Question?" are just some of the tracks with absurd names that have helped the band achieve the success it enjoys today. The German techno band Scooter formed around frontman H.P. Baxxter rather by chance in 1994. Initially still active under the name The Loop, Rick Jordan, Ferris Bueller and H.P. released their debut "Vallée De Larmes" together with their producer Jens Thele as Scooter. Although the single flopped, the North Germans landed a hit with "Hyper Hyper" - not only in Germany, but also in large parts of Europe. The song sold over 700,000 copies in Germany alone and remains one of the band's most successful tracks to this day.
The fact that the new sound was unusual for the time was revealed by the divided reactions of the music scene. Many DJs and music critics saw Scooter's songs as the downfall of techno. Despite harsh criticism, the band stuck to their music and are still celebrating success with it today. Simple melodies, samples of well-known songs, high-pitched female voices and bizarre megaphone announcements by H.P. Baxxter define Scooter's sound.
Although, or perhaps precisely because, they remained true to their musical style, Scooter landed one hit after another and sold numerous singles and albums. With the album "Jumping All Over The World", released in 2007, Scooter reached the top of the charts in the UK and finally became international stars.
In their career, the band can look back on a record of more than 20 singles in the German Top 10 charts, countless gold and platinum records and various awards. Most recently, Scooter thrilled their fans with tracks such as "FCK 2020", "Paul Is Dead" and "Groundhog Day" from their 20th album "God Save the Rave". The fact that Scooter is regarded as the best-known German band in the German techno and dance scene is inevitably down to frontman H.P. Baxxter, who has been an integral part of the band since the beginning and is largely responsible for its success. Other current members of Scooter are Michael Simon and Sebastian Schilde.
