Cypress Hill are known for their unique sound, which combines elements of West Coast hip-hop, rock and psychedelic influences. With their debut album ‘Cypress Hill’ from 1991, the group celebrated their first successes with songs such as ‘How I Could Just Kill a Man’ and ‘The Phuncky Feel One’. The second album ‘Black Sunday’ finally cemented their status in hip-hop and produced the international hit ‘Insane in the Brain’. In the following years, Cypress Hill experimented with different styles and collaborations, which led to a steady development of their sound. Particularly noteworthy was their role in popularising hip-hop with Mexican influences and the thematisation of cannabis culture. Cypress Hill is still considered one of the most influential hip-hop groups today and has retained a loyal fan base over the decades. Their music, which is often political and socially critical, and their distinctive style have made them one of the most important hip-hop groups in the world. Cypress Hill has also sought collaborations in rock music and other genres, which has broadened their musical horizons.
